Discussion circle with Mike Paul Kuekuatsheu

In honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day, the Francophone Society of Victoria is honoured to welcome Mike Paul Kuekuatsheu, a francophone Innu artist from Quebec.

Before the performance, a discussion circle with the artist will provide an opportunity to discuss the realities and daily lives of Indigenous Peoples, as well as the significance of this day.

Indigenous Francophone Voices

In honour of the 30th anniversary of National Indigenous Peoples Day, the Victoria Francophone Society is very happy to welcome Mike Paul Kuekuatsheu, a Francophone Innu artist from Quebec, and Zoe Lheritier, a young Francophone author from the Plains Cree Nation.

3 p.m - 4 p.m: Meet Zoe Lheritier, writer of the book Le chant de nos ancêtres. Zoe Anne-Marie Lheritier is a French and Nêhiyaw author from Treaty 4 First Nation in Saskatchewan. Her writing is rooted in a journey of cultural reconnection and reflection on identity and resilience. Committed to raising awareness of Indigenous realities in intercultural dialogue, her words carry a voice that is both intimate and engaged. Through her work, Zoe explores the strength of the spirit, ancestral heritage, and the power of cultural transmission.

4:30 p.m: Welcome ceremony and artistic performance by the local community

5:00 p.m - 7 p.m: Concert by Mike Paul Kuekuatsheu
