Our Mandate
The Francophone Society’s mandate is to promote, represent and defend French language and culture in Greater Victoria. It supports the French-speaking community through local partnerships and through services which respond to the needs of its members.
Our Team
The Francophone Society relies on a permanent staff of three employees who have the French community at heart.
Casey Edmunds
Executive Director
Originally from Victoria, Casey is passionate about community development in French through his many contributions to organiszations such as Francophonie jeunesse de l’Alberta (Alberta Youth Association) and the Canadian Francophone Games. Casey hopes to inspire a new vibe at the Francophone Society through his innovative ideas and abundant creativity.
Camille Delacôte
Executive assistant
From France, Camille visited Victoria for the first time 11 years ago. She was charmed by the landscape and eventually decided to settle here with her family. As soon as she arrived, Camille decided to get fully involved in the French-speaking community by registering her children in a Conseil Scolaire Francophone school and also by working as an Ambassador of French-speaking culture. Camille is determined to develop access to services and activities for Francophones both inside and outside the community. All this while preserving her French humour and smile.
Catherine Lefebvre
Communications coordinator
Catherine enjoys exploring diverse art forms and cultures. She loves Vancouver Island for its beautiful spaces and relaxed atmosphere, while being inspired by the vibrant French-speaking community. Her desire is to bring her creativity to communications projects.
Magali Canovas
Events programming coordinator
Originally from the south of France, Magali came to discover the richness of Canada in September 2022, and she wasn’t expecting such a vibrant French-speaking community! With several years’ experience in the events industry, she’d like to put her expertise to work in this community with joy and enthusiasm. Her major asset: the preparation of crêpes…
Mélanie Richard
Program and services Coordinator
Based in Victoria since 2017, it was a career path change that brought her to work at SFV. After working in the healthcare field for 15 years, she joins the SFV in 2023 and contributes to the JFCNO in the summer of 2023. She is thrilled to be part of the team and to be able to contribute her expertise to the many projects that make the French-speaking community so vibrant.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors ensures the Society respects its mandate and objectives, as well as be responsible for the Society’s fiscal management.
